How to Add a Custom Domain to Your Seed Hypermedia Site

You can easily publish a hosted Seed Hypermedia Site to your own domain!

    Pre-requisites

In order for this guide to work, Your site must be hosted on our Seed Hypermedia Host service. This means that you can access your site in a hyper.media subdomain (example: mysite.hyper.media)

You can also self-host your site on a different host service, and we will add guides on how to do it shortly!

Step 1: Start the Domain Setup

Inside the Seed app, go to your Site.

Click on the three dots icon on the top bar, and click Publish Custom Domain.

Enter your domain name and click Publish to Domain.

    Step 2: Configure Your DNS

Depending on your DNS provider's capabilities, you have two options:

If your DNS provider supports ALIAS or CNAME flattening:

Set an ALIAS or CNAME record for your domain to point to: yoursite.hyper.media (replace yoursite with your Site's name)

In case you are using Cloudflare deactivate the Proxy option.

If your DNS provider does NOT support ALIAS/CNAME flattening:

Set an A record to point to: 40.160.6.196 (When in doubt, do ping hyper.media in the console)

Step 3: Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS changes typically take around 10 minutes to propagate.

Keep the app open during this time.

Once propagation is complete, your Site will be live on your custom domain!
