Activity

A high-level user goal or meaningful phase in the user’s journey. In a user story map, activities form the backbone and group the smaller tasks and user stories required to achieve that goal. Activities are usually written as short verb phrases, such as “Plan a trip” or “Complete checkout.”

User Story

A concise description of a particular user need or desired outcome within a task. It represents functionality that the team can discuss, prioritize, and implement, often written as: “As a [user], I want [goal], so that [benefit].”

User Task

A specific action a user performs to advance an activity or achieve a goal. Tasks are arranged in the order users typically perform them, such as “Choose a product” or “Enter payment details.”
